About Sparkling Tea Merchant

We're Steven and Sally, the sommeliers behind Denver Wine Merchant, a Colorado wine shop we've spent years building around one principle: life's too short for bottles that don't earn their place on the table.

We still believe that. We also occasionally don't drink wine. And for a long time, the options available on those occasions were — to put it charitably — not earning their place on the table.

So we did what sommeliers do when they can't find what they're looking for. We went looking harder.

What we found was a genuine category hiding in plain sight: premium sparkling teas and botanical brews, produced by serious makers around the world, with the kind of complexity and food-friendliness you'd expect from a good bottle of wine. Cold-brewed single-origin teas from Denmark. Wild-foraged Nordic botanicals harvested by season. Fermented teas made by a Brooklyn operation that treats its source leaves the way a natural winemaker treats grapes.

None of it was easy to find in the US. Some of it wasn't available here at all.

Sparkling Tea Merchant exists to fix that. One curated shelf of bottles worth opening — chosen by people who know what worth opening actually means, and who will tell you exactly why each one made the cut.

No dealcoholized wine. No fruit-flavored soda in a fancy bottle. No compromises that assume you'll settle just because you're not drinking alcohol.
